Fargo residents: Vote on Oct. 6!

A special election is being held on Tuesday, Oct. 6 to determine Fargo's form of government. 

Ballot Question: Shall the city of Fargo change from its organization under the commission system of government and become a city under a ward-based council form of government. 

While the BIA does not have a position on which form of government should be chosen, we do encourage those eligible to vote, to make their voices heard, and look at the pros and cons of each system.

Preparing for election Day: BIA candidate events this week!

BIA encourages you to mark your calendar and make a plan for voting in the general election! In addition to voting on Nov. 3, both Cass County, ND, and Clay County, Minn., offer early voting options.

News from national: NAHB responds as immigration enforcement keeps legal workers off job sites

NAHB members have reported that increased immigration enforcement and raids are heightening worker's fears and limiting the pool of construction workers.

According to NAHB, in some markets, immigration enforcement has discouraged legally authorized workers from reporting to jobsites, causing further delays in an already pressing housing shortage. 

A recent action NAHB has taken is filing an amicus brief in regards to the Sosnava Rodriguez v. Ortega Fifth Circuit immigration case, arguing that everyone in the U.S. deserves fair and consistent due process. 

NAHB said "indefinite detention without the opportunity to seek bond separates people from their families, communities and workplaces...the government’s new mandatory detention policy also has significant consequences for employers, workers and consumers."
