Herdina Construction Trades Camp

Awards & Honors


On June 5-16 area high school students are exposed to tool safety, fall protection, reading and drafting prints, building inspections and resume and interviewing. Campers get hands on learning with the help of industry professionals and are introduced to building sawhorses, learning about steel pods, electrical and HVAC. 

This years project was to build a storage shed for the Moorhead Youth Lacrosse Association. 


The storage building is located at the Centennial Athletic Complex, 2600 15th Ave N., Moorhead. 

Graduation was June 16, with 21 graduates received a certificate of completion in front of their family and peers. Some students also received awards and scholarships. 

Toolbox awards, each winner will receive a Milwaukee driver/drill set. The winners were Kaydi Mursu, New York Mills native who plans to attend Minnesota State Community and Technical College in Detroit Lakes this fall in architectural drafting and Elias Janes, Horace native who will graduate from Horace High School in 2025. 

The Camp Leadership Award is an award voted by campers to choose one camper who stood out as a leader. This year's Camp Leadership Award recipient was Joshua Lemke, Moorhead native. Josh won a loaded toolbelt, everything needed for a journey in the trades. 

Casey Erovick, Harwood native received the Home Builders Care of Fargo-Moorhead Foundation scholarship. Casey will graduate from Fargo North High School in 2024. He is interested in pursing a career in construction building, construction management or engineering as a major in college. 

Elliot Steinbrink, Home Builders Care of F-M Foundation secretary presented the scholarship. 

Connor Klemin, Pelican Rapids native received the North Dakota State College Science scholarship. Connor will graduate from Barnesville High School in 2026. He is interested in construction and carpentry and hopes to attend NDSCS. 

Randy Stach, NDSCS construction and design technology department chair presented the scholarship.
