Gate City Bank promotes Crystal Whalen to deputy chief risk officer and chief compliance officer

FARGO, N.D. – Crystal Whalen has been promoted to Deputy Chief Risk Officer while also continuing to serve as Chief Compliance Officer at Gate City Bank. As a Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) with the American Bankers Association and with nearly 20 years of experience in the industry, Whalen brings extensive knowledge and expertise to the role.

Originally from Sabin, Minn., Whalen earned her associate’s degree in business administration from Strayer University. She is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business studies, with a minor in banking from the University of Jamestown. 

Outside of work, Whalen serves as vice president of the Atonement Lutheran Church board of directors. She also volunteers with Jefferson Elementary School’s parent teacher association and Feed My Starving Children MobilePack. During her free time, she enjoys reading and being with her family, often traveling or camping.
